Dottie Hamilton Huffman, age 64, of Glasgow, died at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington, Virginia on Thursday, January 22, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 14, 1944 in Buena Vista, VA, a daughter of the late Levi and Lola Hamilton.

She was the youngest of ten children.

On September 30, 1960 Dottie was united in marriage with Herman L. Huffman.

Dottie worked at Washington and Lee University until her retirement in 2004.

Surviving are her husband, Herman; her son and his wife, Sam and Karen Huffman; her daughter and her husband, Cynthia and Scott Gilbert; her daughter and her husband, Cottie and Steve Clark; eight grandchildren: Brian, Lauren, Camryn, and Samantha Huffman, Mitch Gilbert, Richard Carter, Jr., Sara, and Brittany Clark; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Taylor Clark; three sisters: Ruth Dorey, Betty Slajer, and Mattie Holland; and two brothers: Tommy Hamilton and Dickey Hamilton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Bolling, Grose, and Lotts Funeral Chapel, Buena Vista, VA. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
