Obituary for Mary Jane Wood Overton Mary Jane Wood Overton
Was Co-Owner, Operator Of Little Fort Antiques

Mary Jane "Janie" Wood Overton, age 70, of The Woodlands Nursing Home, Clifton Forge and formerly of Forty-Two Road, Clifton Forge, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born March 22, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland, Janie was a daughter of the late Lester and Mary Elizabeth Floyd Wood.

She was a homemaker throughout her life, but was co-owner and operator, along with her husband, of Little Fort Antiques, and delivered the Covington Virginian newspaper for a number of years.

She was a member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church, where she was in the Annie Gardner Circle.

She loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd M. Overton, Sr. in January of 2003; a sister, Helen Baldwin; and a brother, Lewis Wood.

She is survived by a son, Floyd "Menzie" Overton, Jr. and his wife, Beckie of Gloucester County; a brother, Bobby Wood of Ohio; six granddaughters: Stacie Brockman, Misti Damne, Rachel Overton, Mary Elizabeth Overton, Melanie Overton, and Melissa Overton; two great grandchildren, Alexis Craft and Devin Damne; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Doug Moore officiating.

Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Bud Shriver, Mike Whiteside, Mike Curtis, Ernie Nicely, Grover Nicely, Jr., and Charles Downey. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Marjorie Madison, 201 Ross Lane in Nicelytown, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Lone Star Advent Christian Church, 4704 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
