Marcus L. McElroy, 85, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy D. McElroy. Marcus "Mac" was born January 23, 1924 in Rockbridge County.

He was the last surviving child of Robert Cash McElroy and Connie S. McElroy.

He is survived by one son Marc S. McElroy and his wife, Beth of Glasgow; two step-children, Tim Madison of Madison Heights and Stephanie Coffey of Lexington.

He is also survived by one granddaughter, Allyson McElroy of Glasgow and four step-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista with the Rev. William Thomas officiating. The family requests contributions be made to Natural Bridge Baptist Church, Natural Bridge, VA 24578. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
