Obituary for Harlan Gray Fainter Harlan Gray Fainter
Had 30 Year Career With Delta Airlines

Harlan Gray Fainter, 71, died February 20th, 2009 at his home in Jonesboro, Georgia.

Harlan was born in Natural Bridge Station, Virginia on April 3, 1937, to the late Alexander Haden Fainter and Mary Smith Fainter.

He is predeceased by brother, Haden Gilmer Fainter and son, William Kevin Fainter.

He is survived by his son, Brian Marcus Fainter and wife, Joyce Fainter; one grandson; one granddaughter; a brother, Dewey M. Fainter; sisters and spouses: Mary Vines, Joyce Hambrick, Doris and Glen Stark of Lexington, Va.; Kate Renz, Sophie and Kenneth Camden of Buena Vista, Va.; and Caroline and Rex Claytor of Natural Bridge Station. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

After graduating Natural Bridge High School, Harlan served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, and was honorably discharged as Petty Officer Second Class with a medal for Good Conduct.

Harlan was a career Delta Airlines employee from 1962 to 1992, working in Houston, Texas and retiring in Atlanta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday evening, February 27, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at Harrison Funeral Home in Lexington, VA. Funeral Services will be held at the graveside Saturday morning, February 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Natural Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Smith officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
