Dorothy Ann Deacon Sorrells, 83, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 1, 2009.

She was born November 9, 1925 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Walter Henry Deacon and Daisy Golden Deacon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Edward Sorrells.

Surviving are her children, James Edward "Buddy" Sorrells of Lexington; Elizabeth Ann Mason and husband, Donnie, of Buena Vista; Preston Allen Sorrells, Melvin Darrell Sorrells and wife, Cathy, all of Lexington; and Alice Jean Miller and husband, Ricky of Natural Bridge Station; two sisters, Virginia Frances Sloan and Ada Deacon Ayers, both of Lexington; four grandchildren, Kevin Allen Knick, Haley Brooke Miller, Katelyn Carlene Sorrells and Braeden Tate Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wyatt Mayes and Rev. Calvin Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Deacon Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
