Leona Strait Ratliff, 79, of Buena Vista, died Monday, March 2, 2009 in HCA Richmond Hospital.

She was born May 8, 1929 in Ohio, a daughter of the late Oscar Straight and Cynthia Rutherford Straight.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Carl Poland and Cecil Ratliff; two brothers, Lewis Strait and Gerald Strait.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Lafoon of Richmond and Carla Poland of Tampa, FL; three sons, Carl Poland, Colonial Heights; Tex Roy Poland, The Colony, TX; and Franklin Lee Poland, Port Jarvis, NY; two sisters, Irene Morgan, Elliot City, MD; and Margaret Friend, Marion, OH; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen grandchildren; one great, great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
