Wayne Lee Newell, 75, of Lexington, died Friday, March 6, 2009 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born August 10, 1933 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late James Samuel Newell and Edith Clark Newell.

He was a self-employed electrician and a member of I.B.E.W.

Mr. Newell was a member of Lauderdale A.R.P. Church.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn I. Newell; a son, Larry Wayne Newell of Lexington; a grandson, Jonathan Lee Newell; three sisters, Juanita Carter of Roanoke, Roberta Hockman of Lexington, and Betty Ann Newell of Staunton; one brother, Malcolm (Mack) Newell of Lexington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
