Obituary for Donna A. Yopp Montgomery Donna A. Yopp Montgomery
Worked As A Nurse For Over 35 Years

Donna A. Yopp Montgomery, 61, of Lexington, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

She was born June 10, 1947 in Roanoke, Virginia, to Mildred Weddle Yopp and the late Dwight A. Yopp.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by Charlie Yopp (grandfather); Burgess and Bessie Montgomery (mother & father in-law); Silas and Zelma Weddle (grandparents); Anthony "Tony" W. Patterson (son-in-law).

She was married on March 2O, 1965 to Eugene L. Montgomery, who survives her. After graduation from William Flemming High School, she graduated from nursing school as a Class 3 LPN and worked as a nurse for well over 35 years at the following institutions: Roanoke Memorial Hospital, extensively trained in intensive care; Community Hospital, UpJohn, SJH nursing home, Kendall, Heritage Hall, and most recently, Ruxton of Staunton, where she was the weekend supervisor; also, she had worked at SunTrust Bank in Lexington and Sovern Bank of Roanoke, VA.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband, are a sister Dorothy "Dottie" Dooley and her husband, John; brother Dwight A. Yopp Jr. "Speedy", and wife, Donna Blanch, both of Roanoke; daughter, Rhunell Harris; son, John A. Montgomery and wife, Ginny; daughter, Rebecca Montgomery Patterson; and son Scott A. Montgomery, all of Lexington; grandchildren: Loreal Montgomery, Brenna Patterson, John W. Montgomery, Austin Patterson, and Raquel Montgomery, all of Lexington; sisters-in-law: Sheila Trainor and husband, Lonnie of Catawba, VA; and Marie Shorter and husband, Douglas of Charleston, SC; two aunts of Roanoke, VA: Betty Yopp and Joyce Cole; many nephews and nieces; best friends, Lynn Smith, Bonnie Wilmer, Doris Turner, and Patty Thorne.

Family night will take place at Harrison's Funeral Home March 20, 2009 from 6pm - 8pm. The funeral service will be Saturday March 2l, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Harrison's Funeral Chapel in Lexington, VA; and at Oakeys N. of Roanoke, VA the family night will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 and the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 also at Oakeys North Chapel. Burial will follow at Sherwood Park in Roanoke, VA. No flowers please, but in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Effinger Fire and Rescue Squad or Hospice of Lexington.
