Obituary for Linda Snead Carter Linda Snead Carter
Homemaker Was Central United Methodist Church Member

Linda Snead Carter, age 88, of 633 Thornton Avenue, Clifton Forge died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.

Born December 21, 1920 in Clifton Forge, she was a daughter of the late Charles S. "C.S." Snead and Anna Wentworth Johnson Snead.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being around her family and loved life, people, and shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Wallace Eugene "Gene" Carter in 2004 and Charles Willis Myers in 2007.

She is survived by her husband, John Daniel Carter, Sr. of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Linda "Susie" Kern of Clifton Forge; a son, John Daniel "Danny" Carter, Jr. and wife, Julia of Clifton Forge; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Myers of Covington; a faithful and caring brother, Wesley Snead, Sr. and wife, Ellen of Clifton Forge; eight grandchildren: Jason Daniel Carter; Andrea Lane Downs and husband, Blair; Deidre Elizabeth Wolfe and husband, Ryan; Johnny Kern and wife, Audrey; Tracy Anna Kern; Amy Allen and husband, Greg; Joel Kern and wife, Mandy; and Heather Lindstrom and husband, Rob; a number of great grandchildren: nieces, and nephews, and special friends, Nancy Little and Roxie Downey, both of Clifton Forge.

A graveside funeral Service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Gerry Reed-Burkholder officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call any time at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge or at the residence, 633 Thornton Avenue, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
