Registered Nurse, Was Avid Golfer

Virginia "Ginny" Diem Hutchison, age 83, of 908 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at her residence.

She was born February 3, 1926 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Fred Diem and Rachael Lawhorn Diem Longanacre.

She was a graduate of the Chesapeake and Ohio School of Nursing and was a registered nurse for forty-four years, retiring from Alleghany Regional Hospital.

She was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, the C & O Nurses Alumni Association, and the Red Hat Belles.

She enjoyed art and was an avid golfer who belonged to the Cliftondale Country Club.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burton Leroy "Birdie" Hutchison in 2008, and two sisters, Alice Ramsey and Charlotte Boye.

She is survived by two sons, John Hutchison and wife, Susan of Clifton Forge and Gary Hutchison of South Carolina; a brother, Jim Diem and wife, Anilee of Caldwell, WV; three grandchildren: Chris Hutchison of Boulder, CO; Tim Hutchison and wife, Laura of Roanoke; and Macon Hutchison of Harrisonburg; a great grandson, Scott Hutchison; a number of nieces and nephews; a special neighbor; Dallas Dobbs of Clifton Forge; and many friends, including Mary Kay Nichols, Cathy Gusler, and Susan Wilhelm.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.

Pallbearers will be John Reynolds, Wayne Humphries, Willis Nichols, Mark Nichols, George Dobbs, and Eddie Stinespring. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
