Obituary for Edith Krimm Apperson Edith Krimm Apperson
Waynesboro Native Was Longtime Whiting Oil Company Bookkeeper

Edith Krimm Apperson, age 93, of The Brian Center Nursing Center, Low Moor and formerly of Staunton Street, Selma died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

She was born November 16, 1915 in Waynesboro, Virginia, a daughter of the late Frank N. and Lucy Via Krimm.

She retired from Whiting Oil Company after forty-five years as a bookkeeper.

She was a former member of the Selma Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and was the oldest living member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Russell Apperson, in August of 2000; a sister, Mary Cooke; and a brother Frank N. Krimm, Jr.

She is survived by four sisters: Margaret K. Francis and husband, Jimmy of Clifton Forge; Barbara K. Norvell and husband, Ray of Clifton Forge; Ruth K. Warren of Clifton Forge; and Esther Matheny of Low Moor; two brothers, Leo P. Krimm and wife, Jean of Newport News; and John D. Krimm and wife, Pauline of Gallispolis, West Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Tracey O'Connor and Michael Francis, both of Clifton Forge.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend John McGinnity officiating. Interment will follow.

A Christian Wake Service will be conducted Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends following the wake until 7:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Selma Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 187, Selma, VA 24474 or to St Joseph's Catholic Church, 620 Jefferson Street, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
