William Winford "Willy" Ayers, 64, of 820 Girard Street, Clifton Forge, passed away on March 30, 2009 in Palm Bay, Florida.

He was born May 17, 1944 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the son of the late William Rufus Ayers and Goldie Mae Ayers Swoope.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Scarlet Jones Ayers; son Bill, Jr. and wife Christina of Palm Bay, Florida; son, Orville and wife, Denise of Low Moor; daughter, Loretta Ayers of Lake Charles, Louisianna; daughter, Misty and husband, Calvin Robinson of Clifton Forge; 8 special grandchildren: Adam Ayers, Brittany Ayers, Brannon Ayers, Linsey LaGrange, Jodie LaGrange, Dalton Ayers, Sean Robinson and Jordan Robinson. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley and husband, Jarrett Griffin; sister, Ramona Swoope; step-brothers: Steve Swoope, Ronnie Swoope and Mike Swoope; and numerous other family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Cromer Swoope; three step-brothers and one step-sister.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 820 Girard Street, Clifton Forge.
