Was Retired Bookkeeper For City Of Clifton Forge

Retha Chittum Scialoia, age 76, of 4111 Sharon Lane, Clifton Forge, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born January 6, 1933 in Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Russell L. and Thelma Miller Chittum.

She was a retired bookkeeper for the City of Clifton Forge and a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Broughman Rakes and husband, Butch of Powhatan; a son, Tony Scialoia and wife, Cindy of Covington; a sister, Doris Nicely of Clifton Forge, three grandchildren: Shawn Rakes and wife, Cheryl of Salem; Chelsea Rakes of Powhatan, and Adona Baker and husband, Mark of Covington; four great grandchildren: Seth, Wilson, Lizzie, and Tyler; a number of nieces and nephews, and many special friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Jim Menefee officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 1403 S. Dee Street, Covington, VA 24426.

Arrangements are being handled by the Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
