Alice Ellis Hill, 74, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at her home.

She was born June 10, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia.

Mrs. Hill was a long time member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late William F. Ellis Sr. and Fannie Thompson Ellis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Douglas Hill Sr.; and a brother, William Franklin Ellis Jr.

She is survived by a nephew, William Franklin Ellis III, of Dunnsville, Va.; and a niece, Elizabeth Ellis Shuford, of Smyrna, Ga.

A memorial service will be conducted on April 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Pastor Lester Kennedy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Essex County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 266, Tappahannock, Va. 22560.
