Lydia Masters Brown, 83, of 4400 Dunlap Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born August 27, 1925 at Hematite in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Barney Master, Sr. and Lena Brown Masters.

Mrs. Brown was a former employee of the H. O. Canfield Inc. in Iron Gate and was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W. Brown, Sr. in 1967 and a sister Lucille Hoke.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ronald Goodwin of Covington; two sons and daughters in law, Jerry and Pat Brown of Richmond and Frank "Nicky" and Cathy Brown of Morristown, TN; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one brother, Barney Master, Jr. of St. Cloud, MN.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Nicely officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Friends may pay their respects anytime at Arritt Funeral Home and the family will receive their friends 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
