Clifton Forge Baptist Church Member Was Homemaker

Dorothy Mae Vest Walker, age 77, of 565 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge, went to be with the Lord, Monday, May 4, 2009 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.

Born January 22, 1932 in Covington, Virginia, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Gorman and Gracie Lee Vest.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church, where she was in the Vernon Hudson Sunday School Class, the Marion Fields Circle, and the Adult Choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Fagg in 1989; a sister, Elsie Via; three brothers, Ellis Vest, Lloyd Douglas Vest, and Harold Vest; and two sons-in-law.

She is survived by her husband, Sterling H. Walker of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Brenda Watson and husband, Walter of Clifton Forge; Teresa Coffey of Clifton Forge; and Melinda Barr and husband, Steve of Eagle Rock; a son, Quintin Walker and wife, Melissa of Clifton Forge; one brother, James Vest and wife, Louisa of Linden; thirteen grandchildren: William Sims and wife, Tanna of Ashland, Thomas Sims of Clifton Forge, Frankie Lee Fagg of Covington, Judy Tuttle of Covington, Dottie Wolfe of Clifton Forge, Gary Coffey of Clifton Forge, Quintin Walker, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Clifton Forge, Stormy Mace of Covington; Lauren Mattox of Clifton Forge, Joshua Barr, Alex Barr, Joey Barr, and Adam Barr, all of Eagle Rock; two sisters-in-law, Velma Simmons and Donna Conner; a brother-in-law, Vernon Walker and wife, Barbara; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Clifton Forge Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and friends attending the service. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and other times at the residence, 565 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, ATTN: Joy Weeks, Memorial Chairman, 2212 Dressler Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
