Obituary for Lawrence (Butch) Funkhouser Lawrence (Butch) Funkhouser
Worked With Lee's Carpets For 40 Years

Lawrence (Butch) Funkhouser, 63, of Natural Bridge, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, May 29, 2009.

Butch was born April 1, 1946, graduated from Natural Bridge High School in 1966 and then served his country two years in the U.S. Army.

He then went to work for Lee's Carpet (now Mohawk Industries) and worked 40 years.

He also attended Grace Presbyterian Church and was a life member of the Glasgow Fire Department, where he served as past president and in many other offices for many years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Funkhouser Major.

Butch is survived by his wife, Hilda Funkhouser; two daughters: Tanya Russell and husband, Gary; Kristy Reed and husband, Joey; two grandchildren, two step children and also many close aunts and uncles, whom he truly loved and who supported him. And, as an avid hunter, he leaves many friends who will miss him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
