Obituary for Clyde "Papaw" Hill Clyde "Papaw" Hill
County Native Dies At Age 72

Clyde Malcolm Hill, 72, of Natural Bridge Station, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his home.

Clyde, better known as "Papaw", was born March 9, 1937 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John William Hill and Irene Thompson Hill.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Frances, or better known as Nanny, and a brother, John Hill Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa H. Harris; granddaughter, Kristin L. Harris, both of Natural Bridge Station; son and daughter-in-law, Gary W. and Donna Hill; two step grandchildren, Joseph Arthur and Kim Hartless; step great- grandchild, Skylar Hartless, all of Buena Vista; brother and sister- in-law, Floyd and Fay Hill; brother, George Hill, all of Natural Bridge Station; brother Charlie Hill; sister, Alma Reid, both of Buena Vista; and best friend, Glen Snider of Natural Bridge Station; many special nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nathan Phillips, Dick Hazelwood and Dr. W. Wyatt Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Rockbridge Area Hospice in memory of Clyde Hill. The family will receive friends from 5 Ð 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, Va.
