Obituary for Cynthia L. Reid Cynthia L. Reid
Taught School In Buena Vista For 15 Years

Cynthia L. Reid, 57, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 after a courageous fight with cancer.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Harry F. Reid; and her brother-in-law, Bill Flowers.

She is survived by her companion, Sharon Dickerson; mother, Doris Reid; sister, Sheila Flowers; niece, Mindy Flowers; and several aunts and uncles.

She is also survived by her very loving and devoted friends, Phyllis Wallace, Barbara Hornsby (who was by her side continuously to the very end), Sheila McCoy and Tony Dickerson.

Cindy taught school in Buena Vista, Va. for 15 years before moving to Richmond. She also worked at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield on Staples Mill Road for nine years, where she made many lifetime friends. She was a very loving and caring person who never met a stranger. She had a terrific sense of humor that would put a smile on anyone's face. We take comfort in knowing she is in Heaven now fishing with her Dad and not suffering any longer.

The family would like to sincerely thank all of their friends and the great medical staff at MCV, specifically Dr. Harold Chung, Vita and Fern on the seventh floor of the Massey Cancer Center, for their support during this most difficult time. Special thanks also to Beth, her nurse who took such great care to ensure her passing was as peacefully as possible. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m Friday, June 26 at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27 at 2 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 29, 11 a.m. at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Va. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Massey Cancer Center, North Hospital, 7th Floor, 13 E. Marshall St., P.O. Box 980157, Richmond, Va. 23298-0157.
