Bruce Alfred Irvine, Sr., 83, of Lexington, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 in VA Hospital in Salem.

He was born March 18, 1926 in Lexington, a son of the late Grim A. and Lula Smith Irvine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Steinspring Irvine.

He was a member of Poplar Hill Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his children, Linda L. Dabney of Big Island, Constance I. Wilmore of Lexington, Bruce A. Irvine, Jr. of Pinetta, FL, Shirley L. Painter and Jenny S. Hamilton of Buena Vista; a brother, Leo Irvine of Lexington; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon Monday, July 6, 2009 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dean Staton officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
