Dr. Russell Delong Williamson, 86, of Lexington, died July 13, 2009.

Dr. Williamson was a veterinarian, major in the USAF Reserves and farmer. His parents were Jesse and Rebecca Delong Williamson of Inez, Kentucky, who preceded him in death as did his oldest son, Robert.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Mary Coates Williamson; five children, Patrick Williamson of Stephens City, Roger Williamson of Clinton, N.C., Karen Williamson of Hagerstown, Md., Elizabeth Leskovec of Winchester, and Kevin Williamson of Richmond; two siblings, Wanda Lee Chafin of Elizabethtown, Ky., and John Clifton Williamson of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted by Lawrence Jones at Harrison Funeral Home 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A military burial will be conducted at National Cemetery in Culpepper on Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Manly Memorial Baptist Church, 202 S. Main St., Lexington VA, or Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington VA.
