World War II Veteran Was Owner Of Morgan's Medical Arts Pharmacy

Charles Frank Morgan, 91, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, July 23, 2009.

He was born May 3, 1918 in Brant, NY, a son of the late Frank Cosmos Morgano and Katherine Morgano.

He was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Conklin, destroyer.

He received the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 3 stars; American Theatre Medal; Philippine Liberation Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He served for 42 months and acquired the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Buena Vista City Council, American Legion, Rotary Club, Republican Party and Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce.

He owned and operated Morgan's Medical Arts Pharmacy for 25 years as a registered Pharmacist.

Mr. Morgan was a loyal member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lexington, for over 60 years.

Surviving are his loving, devoted wife of 65 years, Florence C. Morgan; four daughters and their families, JoAnne (Terri) and Dave White of Naples, FL with their sons, Michael White of Roanoke and Steven White of Manhattan Island, NY; Martha and Butch Irvine of Lexington with their daughters and grandchildren, Michelle and Brock Keister and children, Kyle and Mabry, Elizabeth and Ross Blount and children, Brody and Hunter, all of Christiansburg; Denise and Bobby Fitzgerald and son, Charlie of Lexington,; Debbie and Tim Dawson of Clarkston, MI and children and grandchildren, Kristen, George, Isabella and Makayla Papalexis, Jenny and Mike Smith and Eric Dawson, all of MI; special caregivers, Debbie Kessinger, Joseph Henson, Holly Gardner and Karen Tolley.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Crews and Hospice for their loyal support and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad, P O Box 668, Buena Vista, VA 24416 or Rockbridge Area Hospice, P O Box 948, Lexington, VA. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased following the funeral service.
