Franklin County Native Was Navy Veteran, Retired HVAC Technician

Charlie Price Hatcher, 69, of Lowesville, died Friday, July 24, 2009.

Mr. Hatcher was born December 3, 1939 in Franklin County, son of the late James Edward Hatcher, Sr. and the late Clara Janney Hatcher.

He was a retired HV/AC technician, an avid hunter and fisherman, and proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy.

Charlie was a member of Central Baptist Church, Lowesville.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Winfree of Lynchburg; one grandson, Wesley Adam Carden of Lynchburg; former spouse and friend, Loretta L. Hatcher of Lynchburg; a brother, James Edward Hatcher, Jr. of Buena Vista; two sisters, Sarah M. Cato of Potomac, MD and Libby H. Green of Roanoke; and numerous close family members and friends, and his dog "Betty".

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, 650 Thrashers Creek Road, Amherst with Rev. Eugene Beverly officiating. A visitation will follow at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
