Linda Kay Hipes Daniels, 54, wife of Donald M. Daniels, Sr., died Friday, July 24, 2009 at Augusta Health, Fishersville.

She was born June 17, 1955 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Lawrence Edward and Louise Virginia (Holcomb) Hipes.

Mrs. Daniels was employed by V.M.I.

She was a member of the Blue Ridge Moose #2135, the Fairfield Fire Department and Rescue Squad and Old Providence ARP Church.

In addition to her husband, family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law: Donald Matthew Daniels, Jr., and Christopher Lee and Leah S. Daniels, all of Fairfield; a step-son, Anthony Wayne Daniels of Colorado; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda K. Garcia and Manuel Garcia Lopez of Waynesboro; a brother, James Howard Hipes of Crozet; a sister, Patsy H. Reese of Steeles Tavern; four grandchildren, Scottland Woods, Ana-Rosa Eggleston-Cazares, and Manuel Edward Garcia, all of Waynesboro, and Christopher Ryan Daniels of Fairfield; and a special close friend, Wanda Deacon of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Edward Hipes and Merle Eugene Hipes.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009, at South River Fire Department in Fairfield.
