Obituary for James W. Bryant James W. Bryant
Army Veteran Worked With James Lees For 33 Years

James W. Bryant, left his earthly home August 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. to be with his heavenly father.

He was born November 8, 1919 in Buena Vista, VA, a son of the late William Dock Bryant and Lillian Sale Bryant.

He was a US Army Veteran with Company C 13 Artillery, serving in theater of operations in China-India Asiatic Pacific and Alaska.

He served from September 20, 1942 until April 15, 1946. After his service he was employed at James Lees, Burlington Industries for 33 years.

Mr. Bryant was an active member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was also an active member of the Buena Vista American Legion. He enjoyed his retirement years and has made many friends, who all remember him as a person with an amiable personality.

In a addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Slough, and a niece, Cary Inman.

He is survived by 2 sisters: Ruth Merritt of Ayden, NC and Mary Ramsey and husband, Johney Ramsey of Monroe VA; one brother, Ronald Bryant and wife, Patricia of Greenville, VA; other survivors also include 8 nieces: Peggy McCormick and husband, David; Linda Floyd and husband, Larry; Shelby Wells, Becky Slough, all of Buena Vista; Betty Parisher and husband, Jimmy of Wilmington NC,;nt of Greenville VA, and Pamela Hewitt and husband, Tobe of Greenville VA; also 4 nephews: Greg Campbell and wife, Sheila of Buena Vista; Gwynn Merritt Jr. and wife, Doris of Ayden NC; Frank Merritt and wife ,Pat of Ayden NC; and Ronnie Bryant Jr. and wife, Elaine of Culpepper VA.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday August 12, 2009 at Bolling Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may gather with the family from 5 to 7 Tuesday August 11, 2009 at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bolling Grose and Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
