On August 20, 2009 Betty Jo Allen entered into the gates of Heaven after a valiant fight with cancer.

Betty was born in Lexington, Virginia on September 12, 1944 and grew up in Buena Vista.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Mava Hickman Allen, and a brother, Steven Allen.

Betty was a dedicated nurse at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for 45 years.

The many people she worked with throughout the years were family to her. She appreciated all the love and support they gave her especially during her illness.

Left to cherish her memory are many cousins, friends, and neighbors. Thank you, Ruth Thomas for the friendship, care, and concern you gave to Betty.

The funeral will be held at Bolling, Grose & Lotts in Buena Vista on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.

The Reverend James B. Grimmer will be officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
