Obituary for Harriet Ritchie Scott Harriet Ritchie Scott
California Native Dies Here At Age 73

Harriet Ritchie Scott, age 73, of Lexington, passed away on August 30, 20209 after a long illness.

She was born in Coronado, California on April 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Lt. Cdr. Thomas Calvin Ritchie, USN, and Helen LeFevre Ritchie.

She attended Mary Washingon College.

In 1956 she married Lt. Col. John Arthur Scott, USMC, who preceeded her in death.

They moved to Lexington in 1976.

She is survived by her four children: Elizabeth Blair (Mitchell) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Jonatan Scott (Wanda) of Lexington; Davidson Scott (Nancy) of Stafford, Virginia; and Emily Fraser (John) of Cockermouth, England; seven grandchildren: Eliza, Sarah, and William Blair; Sally Eggman (Aaron); Russell and Anne Scott; and Cara Scott; a brother, Sherwood Ritchie (Judith); and a sister, Helen-Thomas Donnelly (E. Russell).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge Area Relief Association, P. O. Box 640, Lexington, VA 24450.

There will be no vistitation at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery in Lexington at 2 p.m. on Friday, Septembe 4, 2009 with the Ve. C. Thomas McHenry, Jr. officiating.

The Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
