James Jasper (Pops) Hartless, 75, of Lexington, died Sunday, September 13, 2009 at UVA.

Born March 4, 1934, he was the son of the late William Ellis Hartless and Dorothy Vanness Hartless.

He was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church, where he was a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Hartless of Lexington; his children: Mike Hartless and wife, Elizabeth of Rockbridge Baths; Greg Hartless and wife, Lisa of Roanoke; Chris Hartless of New York City; four grandchildren: Will, Kathryn, Hannah and Andrew Hartless; also surviving are his sisters, Willabelle Baldwin, Virginia Ann Hartless, Dorthy Hartless, all of Lexington; and Loretta Clark of Fairfield.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Harrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Skip Hastings officiating. Burial will follow at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at the funeral home.

The family requests that contributions be sent to the Lauderdale ARP Church, 300 S. Main Street, Lexington, Va. 24450.
