Seamstress Was Avid Gardener, Devoted Mother, Grandmother

Helen Virginia Jordan Neas, age 75, of 503 Commerce Ave, Iron Gate, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

Born May 11, 1934 in Alleghany County, Virginia, Helen was a daughter of the late Lillie Jordan McCormick and William C. Jordan.

She was a seamstress in a local apparel industry.

She was an avid gardener and also loved to spend time working on craft and sewing projects.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known as "MawMaw" to her granddaughter and "Nanny" to everyone else.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Jordan and Carl Jordan, and a sister, Dot Holesapple.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Neas; a son, Donnie Neas; a brother, Richard Jordan and wife, Linda; three sisters, Betty Bauman, Mary Gray and Ruth Smith; a special granddaughter, Magan Wise; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roger Bush officiating. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Goodwill Industry or The Salvation Army.

Arrangements are being handled by the Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
