Obituary for Hezekiah D. Wallace, Sr. Hezekiah D. Wallace, Sr.
Westvaco Retiree Was Main St. Baptist Church Member

Hezekiah Dillard Wallace, Sr., age 82, of 1018 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born October 26, 1926 in Cliftondale Park, Alleghany County, Virginia, he was a son of the late William Edward and Bessie Oatneal Wallace.

He attended the former Jefferson School in Clifton Forge and joined the Main Street Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend A. A. Womack.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Wallace retired from the bleacher room of Westvaco in 1988, and was a member of the United Paperworkers Union Local 675.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Hezekiah Dillard Wallace, Jr.; a granddaughter, Kai Perkins; five brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Scott Wallace of Clifton Forge; seven daughters: Gloria J. Perkins and Karen L. Wooding of Renton, WA, Leigh L. Haynes of Kent, WA, Brenda A. Harris and husband, William of Upper Marlboro, MD; Monica V. Wallace of Detroit, MI; Susan M. Allen and husband, Henry of Port Charlotte, FL' and Staff Sergeant Tonya M. Wallace of Kaiserstuen, Germany; one son, Wayne F. Wallace of Los Angeles, CA; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Geneva W. Barber of Covington, a brother, Mr. Clevie Wallace of Cliftondale Park; three sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Matthew T. Barnette, Sr. officiating, assisted by area ministers. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Rodney Brown, Daniel Christian, Charles Godfrey, Derrick Hatcher, Gregory Key, Scott Pierce, James Smith, Jr. and James Wiley. Flowerbearers will be Hester Alston, Margrey Christian, Jennie Hatcher, Dorothy Johnson, Lois B. Morris, and Beatrice Smith. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1018 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge.

Arrangements are being handled by the Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
