Obituary for Willard "Bill" White Painter Willard "Bill" White Painter
Retired Logger Dies At Age 90

Willard "Bill" White Painter died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born March 16, 1919 in Amherst County, Virginia, the youngest of 6 children.

He was the son of Paul P. and Willie Florence Painter.

Preceding his death were four brothers and one sister: Bob, Jack, Ham, and Wallace Painter and a sister who died as a child. Also preceding his death was his beloved wife, Dorothy Irene Coleman Painter, whom he lost September 14, 2008; and a great grandchild, Albert Jeffery Linville, Jr.

Bill was a retired logger.

He and his late wife, Dorothy Painter were a true and living example of what love, sacrifice and charity meant. They lived this life each day, and it is who they were and all were blessed who knew them.

Surviving are Bill's five step-children: Ernest Potter of Buena Vista, Robert Potter of Laurel, MD, Nancy Coffey of Buena Vista, Kathy Fix of Waynesboro and Rebecca "Becky" Sorrells of Buena Vista; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, whom he dearly loved as his own.

Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Bolling, Grose, and Lotts Chapel with the Elder Butch Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista. Te family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
