Obituary for William Brent Nicely William Brent Nicely
Former Army National Guard Veteran Was Retired Laborer For Alliant Tech Systems

William Brent Nicely, age 77, of Brian Center Nursing Care, and formerly of Briarcliff Apartments, Clifton Forge, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born November 20, 1932 in Iron Gate, Virginia, he was a son of the late John William and Tinia Brown Nicely.

He was a retired laborer for Alliant Tech Systems of Radford.

He served in the Army National Guard of Virginia for a number of years, enjoyed hunting, and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Thomas Nicely; a sister, Dartha Eversole; one step son, Gary Thomas; two step brothers; three step sisters; and a special nephew, Kevin Aldridge.

He is survived by a step daughter, Sandra Atkinson of Mooresville, NC; three sisters, Margaret Smith of Eagle Rock, Mary Anderson of Clifton Forge, and Joyce Aldridge of Iron Gate; two nieces, Sharon Coleman and Kim Fix; five nephews, Richard Smith, James Smith, Andrew Eversole, Kerry Eversole, and David Eversole; and a step granddaughter, Lorrie.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Eagle Rock. Pallbearers will be Otmer Newcomb, Homer Clark, Richard Smith, James Smith, Todd Fix, and Jonathon Aldridge. An honorary pallbearer will be Isaac Vest. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mary Alderson, 1808 N. Oakwood Drive, Clifton Forge, VA. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, Rt 1, Locust Bottom Road, Eagle Rock, VA 24085.
