Roanoke Resident Was Retired Machine Operator

Julia Mae Hyatt Thompson, 81, of Roanoke died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at her home.

Mrs. Thompson was born September 12, 1928 in Princeton, WV, a daughter of the late John Rufus and Callie Linkous Hyatt.

She had retired from Virginia Plastics in Roanoke in 1993 as a machine operator after 20 years with the company.

She was a member of Airlee Court Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Harold L. Thompson, in 1962; by a son, Harold Thompson, Jr., in 1985, and by two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Stover of Salem, her granddaughter, Maria Stover of Salem, one brother, Bill Hyatt of Beckley, WV, one sister, Lena Willis of Southport, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. William Hartsfield officiating.

Family and friends should assemble at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, to proceed to the cemetery.
