Obituary for Bernard Joseph Natkin Bernard Joseph Natkin
Well-Known Lawyer Was World War II Veteran

Bernard Joseph Natkin, 86, of Lexington, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Natkin; a brother, Lewis Natkin and parents, Milderd K. and Abraham H. Natkin.

Mr. Natkin graduated from Roanoke College and Washington and Lee School of Law.

He practiced law from 1950-2007 in Lexington, Virginia, and was a distinguished member of the Virginia State Bar.

He served his country faithfully with the 69th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He was a member of the Beth Israel Synagogue and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Natkin; daughters, Rhona N. Hessian, Tama N. Creef, Tonya N. Tyree; sons, H. David Natkin and Jonathan J. Natkin; stepchildren, C. Carter, McCrowell, Patrick C. McCrowell, Laurie Moses; 12 grandchildren.

Graveside servies will be held at 12 noon Monday in Beth Israel Cemetery with Rabbi Fabian Werbin officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beth Israel Synagogue, 920 Franklin Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24016.

Arrangements are being handled by the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, Roanoke, Virginia.
