Obituary for Bertie Virginia Macheras Bertie Virginia Macheras
County Native Was Lifetime VFW Ladies Auxiliary Member

Bertie Virginia Macheras, 91, of Lexington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Born April 7, 1918 in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Mamie Entsminger.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Hassie Martin.

Mrs. Macheras was a life-time member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 1499 and a member of the Women of the Moose, Lexington Lodge 1700.

Surviving are two sons, James Thomas Rowsey and wife, Bonnie of Lexington and Charles Edward Rowsey and Motty Moore of Buena Vista; three sisters, Mary Moore and Ola Sensabaugh, both of Lexington, and Gladys Nuckols of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Charles Rowsey and fiance, Jessie Hamm, Chris Rowsey and wife, Melissa, David Rowsey and wife, Stephanie, Debbie Rowsey and fiance, Stevie Pruett, Brian Rowsey and wife, Jodi, Thomas, Charles, Eddie and Jimmie Lewis Rowsey, all of NC; eleven great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450. The family will receive friends from 5 Ð 7 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
