Obituary for Hattie Black Morris Hattie Black Morris
Was Retired Ward Secretary At The C&O Hospital

Hattie Black Morris, 81, of 320 Morris Hollow Road, Clifton Forge, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family and friends Saturday, December 12, 2009 at her residence.

She was born in Clifftop, West Virginia on January 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Michael and Mamie Morris Cary.

She was a retired ward secretary at the former C & O Hospital in Clifton Forge.

She was the devoted wife of 54 years of Roy A. Morris, who preceded her in death in 2003.

She was not only devoted to her family, but also to her friends. She loved playing bingo and was a member of the Iron Gate Advent Christian Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah McCullough and husband, Mike of Buchanan, Barbara Chambers of Beckley, West Virginia and Margaret Morris-Smith and husband, Frank of Clifton Forge; a son, Joseph A. Morris and wife, Linda of Iron Gate; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by a special friend, Janet Smith of Clifton Forge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas W. Chambers in 2004, a great grandson in 2009 and four sisters.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Active pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Jim Allen, Chuck Elswick, Bruce Baird, Ronnie Gingras and grandson Merritt Chambers. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. Friends may call any time at the residence of 320 Morris Hollow Road, Clifton Forge.
