Obituary for Levonia Merlin Yancey Levonia Merlin Yancey
Homemaker Was Pine Street Baptist Church Member

Levonia Merlin Yancey, 61, of 110 E. Holly Street, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs.

She was born November 10, 1948 in Covington, a daughter of the late Edward Yancey Jr. and Annie Brown Yancey.

Ms. Yancey was a homemaker.

She was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church where served on the usher board.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Yancey.

Surviving are her son, Charles "C.W."Smith and his wife, Teresa of Covington; two daughters, Dawn King and her husband ,Reggie of York, PA; Tamura Smith and Chris Daniels of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, Tatiyana Ponce, Kiaya King, Trey Smith and Kayla Campbell; and one aunt, Clara Anderson of Glenn Wilton.

The funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Thomas S. Simmons officiating.

Following the funeral service the family will receive friends at the funeral home and at other times at their residence, 356 E. Fudge Street, Covington, Virginia.

Memorials: The family suggests that memorial donations in Ms. Yancey's name may be made to the Pine Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 347 E. Pine Street, Covington, VA 24426.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is handling the funeral arrangements.
