Lexington Native Dies At Age 85

Margaret Priscilla Carter, 85, of Lexington, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in Benjamin Borden Center at Kendal, Lexington, VA.

Born March 6, 1924 in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Watts and Rose Belle Johnson Watts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Randolph Carter.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington, VA.

Surviving are three daughters Bobbie T. Carter; Francine J. Carter both of Lexington; Priscilla C. Stokes of South Orange, NJ; two sisters, Laura E. Watts; Alice Watts Sloan; two brothers, Leroy Watts; Francis Watts, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Harris officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the First Baptist Church, Lexington, VA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
