Obituary for Ila Lura Evans Ila Lura Evans
Was Retired Medical Technologist With C&O Hospital

Ila Lura Evans, 96, of 625 Brussels Avenue, Clifton Forge, died early Friday, December 18, 2009 in Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on May 21, 1913, a daughter of the late John and Willa Payne Evans.

She was a retired Medical Technologist at the former Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Clifton Forge.

She trained at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore and worked in the lab for over 40 years.

Miss Evans was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church and a member of the Clifton Forge Women's Club. She was a avid golfer and longtime member of the Cliftondale Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.

She is survived by a nephew, John Reynolds and wife, Karen of Lexington; a niece, Dr. Susan Picaloglou and husband, Basil of Downers Grove, Illinois. She is also survived by a number of cousins and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Enza Reynolds and Enid Burton.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Burkholder officiating. Interment will be made in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 16, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.
