William (Billy) Gilmore Armstrong, 76, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in the VA Medical Center, Salem.

Born November 27, 1933 in Lexington, he was a son of the late William Mack Armstrong and Elsie Reid Armstrong.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Mr. Armstrong was a member of VFW Post #1435 in Buena Vista.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Ogden Armstrong; one son, Ricky Lee Armstrong and wife, Teresa of Buena Vista; one daughter, Vickie Grant of Buena Vista; three grandchildren and one great grandchild, Alexis Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
