Obituary for Curtis Ray Thompson Curtis Ray Thompson
Was Life Member Of Dunlap Fire & Rescue Departments

Curtis Ray Thompson, 72, of 4209 Dunlap Creek Road, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1937 in Clifton Forge, a son of the late John and Stella Britt Thompson.

Mr. Thompson retired in 1992 from the Ohio Laborer's Union as a contractor.

He was a life member of Dunlap Fire and Rescue Departments and was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Norma Lewis Thompson in 2001 and also by four brothers, Cecil Thompson, Earl Thompson, Sr., and Russell "Buddy" Thompson and a sister, Gladys Hannah.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Loren and Marcy Thompson of Covington; his cherished grandchildren, Ethan Thompson and Allison Thompson, both of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Dodge and her husband, Frank of Roanoke; and Mrs. Lourine Davis of Salem; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeressa Thompson of Iron Gate; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

The funeral service was held 2:00 Sunday, January 10, 2010 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dean Bowser officiating The interment followed in Palestine Chapel Cemetery.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
