Clifton Forge Native Was Millboro Resident

Evelyn Marilyn Myers McAllister, age 75, of 1682 Crooked Spur Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at her residence.

Born January 12, 1935 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John and Sadie Huffman Myers.

She was a lifetime member of the Millboro Christian Church.

Mrs. McAllister was a member of the Ladies Group of the church, a secretary for the church for thirty plus years, and a Sunday school teacher.

She was an employee of Jane Coby, a special kitchen helper at Mount Shenandoah, housekeeper at The Springs Nursing Home, and a very loving caregiver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Richard McAllister, whom she married on September 5, 1953; two brothers and their wives, Jay and Betty Myers and Bill and Alice Myers, a sister and her husband, Alice and Randolph Hodge; a sister-in-law, Linda Myers.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie McAllister of Staunton; a granddaughter, Heather McAllister of Millboro; a brother, Hugh Myers of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Bea Myers of Hagerstown, MD; a number of nieces and nephews, including four special nephews: Kirk and Gary Smith, Ralph and Douglas McAllister; and many special friends: the church members, Madeline Harris, Marlene Banks, Thelma Madison, Barbara McAllister, Rhonda Kennedy, Bonnie Hodge, Patty Huffman, and several throughout the community.

A funeral service was held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Millboro Christian Church, Millboro with Paster David Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery, Millboro. Active pallbearers were Kirk Smith, Gary Smith, Ronnie Hodge, Brian Puhle, Bobby McAllister, and Donald Kennedy.

The family received friends on Monday from 12:00 noon. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Christian Church Cemetery or the Millboro area Rescue Squad Attn. Treasurer, P.O. Box 295 Millboro, VA 24460.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
