Obituary for Myrtle R. Chittum Myrtle R. Chittum
Was Lifelong Member Of The Stone Church Of The Brethren

Myrtle R. Chittum, 89, of Buena Vista, Virginia, went to be with Her Lord and Savior, Sunday, January 17, 2010.

Born October 3, 1920 in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late Dora Garrett and Samuel Roberts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Saylor Chittum; a grandson, David Gattis; a son-in-law, Teddy Tomlin; a half brother, Audie Hamilton and a sister, Carrie Falls.

She was a lifetime member of the Stone Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Chittum was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are four daughters: Frances Smith and husband, Bill; Doris Tomlin; Shirley Lynn and husband, Ronnie; and Kathleen Smith and husband, Roy; one son, Tommy and wife, Jo Ann; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren; three half sisters, Elizabeth Shafer, Edna Garrett and Dora Painter, all of Buena Vista; two special friends, Mary Wright and Shirley Flint.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russ Barb and Rev. Sonny Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
