Navy Veteran Was Self-Employed Electrician

Henry Elmer "Hank" Curry, Sr., age 85, of 120 Bath Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Virginia Veteran's Care Center in Roanoke.

Born November 29, 1924 in Covington, Virginia, he was a son of the late Charles Russell Curry and Beulah May Curry.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1942 until 1945 and then served in the North African, the European, and the Asiatic- Pacific Theatres landing ships, tanks and infantry with the Naval amphibious forces.

He was a Purple Heart recipient, belonged to the Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a self-employed electrician and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet L. Curry; a brother, Charles Jerry Curry and a son-in-law, Larry E. Ford, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Elizabeth Curry of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Curry Ford of Denver, CO and Veronica Ann Curry Isom and husband, James of Gainsville; two sons, Henry E. Curry, Jr. and wife, Janice of Pasadena, MD and Russell A. Curry and wife, Linda of Delaware, MD; two step daughters, Edith Marie Snedegar and husband, Ray of Clifton Forge and Wanda Irene Morales and husband, Juan of Bristol, RI; two stepsons, Clarence Kellison and wife, D'ona of Covington and John Kellison, Jr. of Covington; ten grandchildren, Henry E. Curry III, Melissa Curry, Russell A. Curry, Jr., Lacey Curry, Lisa Curry Rotondo, Larry E. Ford, Jr., Ryne A. Curry, Alex Isom, Elizabeth A. Isom, Kelly Jean Isom; seven step grandchildren, Ray Snedegar II, Jessica Ramsey, Jonathan Snedegar, Mary Morales, Melissa Morales, Mackenzie Kellison and Elizabeth Kellison; and four great grandchildren, Alllison Curry, Megan Rotondo, Frank Rotondo, Jr. and Luke Henry Curry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Nicely Funeral Home. In addition, a graveside funeral service will be will be conducted in Crownsville Veteran's Cemetery in Crownsville, MD on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Iron Gate Community Church, C/O Tiffany Snedegar, 2714 Jackson River Road, Covington, VA 24426 or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 620 Jefferson Ave, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
