Obituary for Donald Ray Payne, Sr. Donald Ray Payne, Sr.
Was Retired City Of Clifton Forge Public Works Employee

Donald Ray Payne, Sr., age 71, of 711 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born October 18, 1938 in Ward, West Virginia, a son of the late Vincent and Margaret E. Payne.

He was retired from the City of Clifton Forge Public Works Department and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was a loving husband and father, and a great Paw-Paw.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Payne in 1985.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-nine years, Judy Campbell Payne of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Kathy Rohr and husband, Chris of Clifton Forge, Kim Payne of Clifton Forge, and Tina Payne and friend, Lisa Maynard of Covington; a son, Donnie Payne and friend, Kristie Bragg of Clifton Forge; a brother, Richard Payne and wife, Joyce of Summersville, WV; eight grandchildren: Dakota Dean, Alex Dean, Isabella Dean, Emmalee Dean, Kailynn Dean, and Sidney Swain,all who made their home with their Paw-Paw and were his pride and joy; Susan Payne of Clifton Forge, and Kelly Payne of Greensboro; a great grandson, Damien Payne of Clifton Forge; a special sister-in-law, Zernie Campbell of Clifton Forge; and a special friend, Ethel Adams, whom he called his daughter, of Clifton Forge.

According to Donald's wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Martin Garrett and Pastor Gordon Hammond officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Kim Payne, 709 Rose Ave, Clifton Forge. The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The American Cancer Society, Alleghany Highlands Division, C/O Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, is handling the arrangements.
