Obituary for George Makinson III George Makinson III
Canadian Native Was Army Veteran Of World War II

George Makinson III, 94, of Lexington, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Mayflower in Lexington.

Born November 11, 1915 in Canada, he was the son of the late George Makinson II and Laura Butchart Makinson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella T. Makinson.

George was in the US Army during World War II.

He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW Post 15048.

Surviving are one son, George Makinson IV and wife, Patricia of Buchanan; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 with the Rev. Wallace C. Shields officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Rockbridge Area Hospice 315 Myers St. Lexington, VA 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
