Eugene Samuel Bane Sr., 69, of Lexington, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born July 9, 1940 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Samuel Alexander Bane and Christine Rowsey Bane.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Bane.

Mr. Bane was a member of Kerrs Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Washington & Lee University with 27 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Bessie Bane of Lexington; one son, Eugene Samuel Bane, Jr. of Whitehall, AR; a brother, Thomas Bane of Lexington; and a sister, Mary Bland of Shawsville.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Nix officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, VA.
