Obituary for William David Brown William David Brown
Retired From DuPont After 38 Years Of Service

William David Brown, 87, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Blue Ridge Christian Home in Raphine, Virgina.

Born December 9, 1922 in Fairfield, he was the son of the late John Baxter Brown and Ethel Eugenia Hess Brown.

Mr. Brown retired from DuPont with 38 years of service. William was a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder, Trustee and Superintendent of Sunday Schools.

He was also Charter and Life member of the Fairfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, South River District Volunteer Fire Department and the Fairfield Ruritan Club.

Surviving are his wife Mary Alice Smiley Brown of Fairfield: one son, David Wayne Brown and wife, Wanda of Buena Vista; two daughters, Anne Brown Wade and husband, David of Raphine; Jeanie Brown Cash and husband, J.B. of Greenville; one sister, Helen Hess Brown of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brown; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Fairfield Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl Moore officiating. A private burial service will be held at the Fairfield Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Fairfield Presbyterian Church 5508 N. Lee Highway Fairfield VA 24435, Fairfield Volunteer Rescue Squad 5585 N. Lee Highway Fairfield VA 24435 or the Fairfield Fire Department 5842 N. Lee Highway Fairfield VA 24435.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
