Obituary for James Weldon (Jimmy) Johnson James Weldon (Jimmy) Johnson
Main Street Baptist Church Member Retired As CSX Brakeman

James Weldon (Jimmy) Johnson, age 59, of 110 Ross Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia, departed this life on February 11, 2010 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born April 15, 1950 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, Jimmy was a son of the late Major Forest and Alberta Hopkins Johnson.

He attended Clifton Forge High School, worked for the former Smith-Curtis Funeral Home for some time, and retired as a brakeman from CSX Transportation.

He served in the United States Army.

He joined Main Street Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Muriel M. Barnette and a brother, Mr. Marvin O. Martin.

He is survived by a brother, Mr. Donald A. Johnson of Aiea, Hawaii; two nieces, Ms. Marie Davenport of Roanoke and Ms. Monica Martin of Bowie, Maryland; a devoted cousin, Mrs. Alice Gordon and husband, Robert of Clifton Forge; a devoted companion, Ms. Linda Liptrap of Clifton Forge, and many cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew T. Barnette, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.
