Obituary for George Curtis Camden, Sr. George Curtis Camden, Sr.
Multi-Decorated World War II Veteran Was Burlington Industries Retiree

George Curtis Camden, Sr., 94, of Glasgow, died Saturday, February 20, 2010.

He was born, February 23, 1915 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Thomas H. Camden and Mary Moore Camden.

He was a member of Falling Springs Presbyterian Church.

George was a veteran of World War II and served throughout North Africa and Central Europe.

He received a good conduct medal, a silver star, three bronze stars, and one bronze arrowhead.

He retired from Burlington Industries.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Camden was preceded in death by six brothers, Henry, Oascar, Hubert, Frank, Clyde, Hinty; and two sisters, Emma, and Anna.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Agnes Hickman Camden; sons, Randy, George Jr., Wayne and fiance Sarah; daughter, Margie Clark; two half brothers, Thomas and Johnny; two half sisters, Bonnie Sue, and Lou Anne; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Falling Springs Presbyterian Church with Rev. Brian Weiger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Crematory.>
